This is the second comic, and is actually part 1 of a 3 comic mini-story. Since, as has been said, this is for a weekly paper, the next two comics will work on their own as well, but be funnier when put together.
The basis for this story is the fact that I'm currently going to a university where many majors are taught, which means there is a variety of stuff in the school store that you might not commonly encounter elsewhere. It can be tempting to acquire things that have nothing to do with one's major.
And yes, I actually was tempted to buy a stethoscope as I thought that might be cool to have for some reason. I honestly have no idea what I'd use one for, however, so it has yet to happen.
Lab coats are also tempting, as I wuv the mad scientist look.
